There are two different types of Windows computer system backups: (1) File backups and (2) Image backups. Both are important and very different. The BackupBox is a complete disaster recovery protection using patented ongoing disk imaging to insure that your entire system disk, including hidden, non-Windows information so that you can restore your entire disk.

- Every WIndows system needs to have a complete image backup -

A system disk image allows you to rebuild your entire disk, called a "bare metal" restore. This will recreate everything on your current system including Windows, your programs and activations, your standard My Documents storage and all releated desktop settings.

The BackupBox software maintains an ongoing image of the entire PC boot system disk drive (the whole physical disk drive).

The following page details the importance of having an image of your system disk:

The BackupBox Technology is designed to image your entire PC or laptop system disk

Making sure your system is restorable!

Designed for real PC users -- regardless of whether you are an individual, home office, small office or small enterprise user -- our simple, ongoing imaging process insures that your critical systems software and your files are recoverable. Automagically!

The BackupBox Solves a Specific Problem

Most people realize that they need to do something to protect their valuable digital assets -- files, information, programs, setting, and all of the little, hidden work you do daily on your personal computer systems.

The BackupBox is designed to do what most people need to do -- automatically, all of the time it is connectied -- AUTOMAGICALLY!

What the BackupBox does is ...

  • Image your Microsoft Windows 2000 or later system disk so that it can be restored exactly as it is at the time of the last automatic backup refresh
  • Monitor your entire PC or laptop system disk for errors, reporting them so that you know about disk problems before they occur
  • Keeps your BackupBox image saveset up-to-date in an ongoing, intelligent method (as long as your computer is turned on and your BackupBox is connected)

The BackupBox makes a complete image backup of everything on your PC automatically. Simply plug it into your computer and turn it on. It self-installs in minutes. That's all there is to it. The BackupBox takes the work and worry out of PC backups:

  • No scheduler to run
  • No CDs or DVDs or tapes to manage
  • Nothing to remember

As long as your PC is turned on and the BackupBox is connected, the BackupBox maintains a complete image of your entire physical boot drive: the operating system, your programs, documents, files, desktop settings -- everything.

What the BackupBox does not do is ...

The BackupBox is not a 'file-by-file' backup solution. The BackupBox can be used for your own storage, in addition to your BackupBox image saveset(s); however, the BackupBox Technology is centered around repairing and restoring your system disk.

The BackupBox images your system disk 'spindle', which will include any and all partitions and logical disks you have defined on that physical disk unit. This imaging process includes all data on your boot spindle, including hidden partitions that your computer's manufacturer may have provided for special utilities.

If you have a need to backup or make copies of individual files, you can use your BackupBox as a standard file-oriented disk device in addition to its functions as a disaster recovery solution.
